Hello Worshipers!

It’s official … the date and location for “Worship Under the Stars” 2006 is now official. After much prayer and consulting with others, we have all agreed that we will once again “shoot for the stars” by having the concert “under the stars” in the Jekyll Island Amphitheater.

The success of last year’s event means that we’ll have to do multiple performances this year. Although other venues were possible that would accomodate one large crown on a single night, the logistics and cost weren’t in our favor, not to mention that most of the venues were “iffy” at best in terms of being allowed to put out 3,000+ chairs and a 45,000 pound truck with portable staging, turf covers, etc. And of course, Jekyll Island has a huge appeal and “draw”. If you’ve never been in the amphitheater, you’ll be amazed at it’s beauty and setting.

Worship Under the Stars - 2006
1st Performance: Friday Night, October 20
2nd Performance: Saturday Night, October 21

As last year, we will have the Hartley Auditorium reserved in the event that the weather forecast is not so good. We’re planning on renting a large roofing system to cover the stage, as we’ll have equipment loaded in on Wednesday, Oct 18, rehearsal on Thursday, Oct 19, etc.

We’ll have more info on ticket sales at a later date. With the event being on multiple nights, ticketing will be necessary to distribute the ‘crowd’. And we’re praying for a PACKED THEATER on every night. Personally, I’d love to see a 3rd performance required! Our vision is that tickets will be no more than $5/each in Advance.

What can you do?
1 - Consider becoming a sponsor or make a donation. We are anticipating a budget of $50,000, as there is considerably more expense for multiple nights. Even if we went back indoors, it would require more than one night, since last year was over-capacity. You can use the “Donate” link here on the site.
2 - Talk it up, talk it up, talk it up!
3 - Volunteer!
4 - Pray! Begin praying for the entire event, unity, and of course, the weather. This is later in October and typically the hurricanes have settled down. The weather is a bit cooler and bugs aren’t as much a problem (although we plan on having the amphiethater “fumigated” prior to the performances.
